Loretta and Simon – Pattern by Delinda Boutique

Every pattern by Delinda boutique is unique and these two are no exception…. Her patterns are very well written best suited for both beginners and experience bag makers.

When I saw the prototype our traditional dress Saree came to my mind. So have paired both the bag and the clutch in brocade material which is commonly used in making Saree blouses here in India. For the sides have used Faux leather to dazzle up. Ideal Bag and Clutch pair to carry for occasions!!

Dolores’ Lunch Tote by RLR Creations Sewing

Whenever a book gets messed up with spilled food and water my heart skips…esp when it is my daughter’s school books. Being in Kindergarten they don’t allow a separate snack bag. All of her fruits and food are put into the same bag where her books are also kept, and the default school bag doesn’t have a partition. With no choice left I was on the lookout for a pattern which would fit into her bag and could hold the food mess she makes every day. Dolores’ Lunch Tote came just at the right time for Testing and I jumped in to doing it… (With all selfish motive wink emoticon )

Picking the right fabric is always the biggest challenge when making personal bags. The moment I saw the Tea, cups and spoon fabric with Quiltaholics – (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Quiltaholics/1550823148474917?fref=ts )

i knew I wanted that for my little Diva; as she can also double it as a weekend picnic bag and school snack bag. The front and back accents are the best part. I paired it with a Snowflakes red fabric to go with the pink fabric. Do you see something new on this bag….. Yes Yes you noticed it …. My new Label :)…What’s more exciting than the Label and Bag pattern designed by the same person..Yes Yes Rachel Roush from RLR Sewing Creations designed that colorful label for me!!!
DSCN0416

Interfacing I have used Collar canvas that available here in India.

The back exterior has a zipper pocket for which i have used a zipper pull with hearts to show all my love for this bag DSCN0413 DSCN0414 The inside can comfortably accommodate a Tupperware/Signoraware 500ml Water bottle, Circular lunch box and a Napkin. Have made the inside with Water-resistant fabric which is lined with PVC on its back side. DSCN0419   I have added a few small bag feet’s to jazz it up!!! Don’t you think its a perfect little girls bag !!! DSCN0421 The pattern comes with TWO SIZES and a SAMMY bag for Sandwiches…. So what are you waiting for go ahead and grab your pattern from the Link below http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/sewing/accessory/dolores-lunch-tote–sammi-snack-pouch-/158507 Here is the picture of the Big Size Dolores’ with Sammy made by my fellow tester Friend Tanya Summers for your reference full_7765_158507_DoloresLunchToteSammiSnackPouch_111845896_10152885819611152_1025936483_n

Luna Bag – Pattern by Lorelei Jayne

I had an instant attraction towards this bag with my first sight when Alison posted the bags  prototype in her group. Instinctively I know I wanted to make this bag…. When she revealed the reason behind the  name of this bag I know for sure I will jump and make this bag…. If you wanna know the secret behind the name join her group and bribe her to let the secret out ;). Here is the link to her group

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1507219902899909/

Its just not the name/ reason/ prototype that was only attractive. The way the instruction were written was perfect, as easy as a fresh air passing through the hairs in a autumn season. To describe more  I enjoyed cutting the pattern for this bag with steadfast liking . All the  patterns pieces came together as one huge drawing on my dinning table!!!

It a simple bag with definitely a versatile look.Like a good Vanilla Icecream Mixed in variety of exotic frutis.. Pattern is well written and have pictures for each step to provide more clarity.

Here is my bag….The Bag pattern is available in two sizes and I chose to do the “Smaller size”…. Since Fusible batting is hard to find in India, I have used “Collar Canvas” for both Exterior and Interior.

DSCN0392

The bag can comfortably hold Tablet/Small Notebook , Organizer and basic essentials required for everyday. It closes with a magnetic snap.

DSCN0394

This is the rear of the bag.

DSCN0397

I never miss to add a Key chain Fob in my bags and this bag is not a exception. Internal zipper as called for in the pattern.

DSCN0395

Simple, Easy to make and definitely a quick to sew bag. Thank you Alison Harley for giving me an opportunity to test this bag. Go ahead and buy this pattern at the below link

Katie’s Crossbody Bag by SAM Bag Co.

July started with a bang…..my brothers wedding  followed by loads and loads of sewing to do!!!! I am all thrilled to show back to back testing bags and many new patterns lined up this month…. I am gonna enjoy the learning 🙂

First thing I picked was Katie’s Crossbody Bag… As promised by Susan this was a QUICK SEW…..With only 3 hrs in hand every day morning, I was able to cut and finish sewing before I head back to pick my daughter back from school. (I am definitely not a fast sewer)

Loved the simple flap closure with a Twist lock or Magnetic Snap… I used a Twist Lock.

Chose one of my favorite Purple black combo and other with pleasing blue with splash of color flowers

Made a bag zipper instead of the pocket as mentioned in the pattern

DSCN0338

The inside can Hold 6 Cards, one back pocket for holding cash/cheque book. The bag can easily hold a phone and keys. It measures (9.5″ X 6″ approximately)

Just imagine my excitement when it can hold a Rs1000 note without getting folded (Indians can understand what I am referring to)

DSCN0334

This is a easy go bag not just in making but also in carrying ….. Easy to grab n go to pick my daughter every day with all my essentials inside.

SHARONA pattern by Delinda Boutique

Hobbies!! best thing to keep you occupied..If it turns profession!!! nothing like that….

The list of hobbies goes on..and one of it is Sewing..Like many of other hobbies I didn’t lose the focus or consistency in spending time..which helped me to take this a profession…while I take care of my home.

Tried with simple stuffs stitching pants for my kid..of-course she wont find if its a designer wear or her moms creation as long as she is comfortable..my graduation started here from simple pajamas for my kid to sling bags..to normal bags.

As I am close in completing the ritual..Branded pattern have always fascinated me..and wanted to try my hands in that…

In this serious of my exploration ..one day I got hold of Delinda Boutique..from then..I have become a regular testers for Pattern Designers!!

I Would like to take this opportunity to thank Maria Petrova for all the encouragement and support that she has given me!!!!

Delinda Botique (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Delinda-Boutique/121151011254897?fref=ts)  has come with a Simple but versatile easy to sew Sharona Hobo Bag pattern and I was fortunate to be her tester this time too.

The pattern is very simple to follow with detailed instructions. Explanation are accompanied with colorful pictures which makes it easy for beginners. Sharona is a QUICK SEW PATTERN.

You can buy the pattern through the below links

When I saw the prototype, decided to do a quilted version of the bag instead of foam…..This is not required as per the pattern…. So if your a non quilting person still you can make this with plain fabric and interfacing.

Quilting Directions (not called for in the pattern)

Fused the outer layer with Thin fusible Canvas (i.e., Dothi canvas as commonly called in India). Layered the fused Outer fabric, cotton batting and medium thick interfacing (i.e, collar canvas or fusible buckram as called in India). Quilted the main bag body with straight lines and front pocket panel with criss-cross lines. Followed the Pattern for cutting after this step

Below is my finished bag front. It has a Front pocket which closed with Magnetic snap.

DSCN0292

The back side of the bag. It has a zipper pocket.

DSCN0293

Used a waterproof material for the gusset. Attached 4 Bag feet as called for in the pattern
DSCN0294

Added a pair of rivets on each sides as extra accessories (not called for in the pattern)

DSCN0295

The bag closes with Magnetic snap and has one interior zipper pocket and a slip pocket which you can divide it as per your requirement

DSCN0297DSCN0298

Have added a Lobster clasp to hold key chains together (not called for in the pattern)
